Regenerative medicine as well as personalized diagnosis and therapy approaches are among the most promising future topics in the (bio-)medical field. Optimized, standardized cell culture technologies and the associated analytical measurement and data processing methods must keep pace with the rapid biotechnological development of future-oriented, therapeutic concepts. The Fraunhofer IBMT takes this trend into account and develops innovative cell culture and model systems for the various fields of stem cell research and cryo(bio)technology.
To further strengthen this focus, peripheral technologies in the field of smart sensors and bioinformatics data applications are being developed in parallel. For the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine and in drug and toxicity studies, the availability of physiological cell models that correspond as closely as possible to the target cells in the body is now the primary concern. The most important criterion here is the generation of large cell quantities with consistently high quality. The Fraunhofer IBMT is an expert in developing automation and upscaling strategies to optimize efficiency and reproducibility for such cultivation and differentiation processes.
